Skipping Stitches is run by only one person (me, Rach!) so it depends on how many orders I am working on at any given time. My goal is to get individual orders shipped to you within 2-3 weeks of placing an order. For larger orders, it can take 4-6 weeks if there are a lot of items to be made. I will generally reach out to you if your order is taking longer than expected. If you are hoping to receive your order by a specific date, please let me know and I will endeavor to get it to you before then.
You can iron your garments as you usually would, but please donβt apply heat directly to the embroidery area, as the iron can burn the threads. To iron the embroidery section, or a patch, please place a clean piece of fabric (like a tea towel) or baking paper over the embroidery to protect it from the iron.
Heat in the wash or dryer can cause t-shirts and jumpers to shrink, which can cause puckering around the embroidered area. Please wash your garment in cold water, and if you must tumble dry, please use a low heat setting to avoid shrinkage. Please do not use bleach products as this will cause the threads to lose their colour.
- Peal off the backing paper and place onto the desired garment on an ironing board.
- Cover the patch with a clean piece of fabric (like a tea towel) or baking paper, and using a hot iron, apply heat and pressure for about a minute, ensuring even coverage of the entire patch. Be careful, the patch may be hot to touch!
- Test the patch is secured by trying to pick it up off the garment. For added security, stitch around the edges using a needle and thread.
No! I can embroider any design onto (nearly) anything. If you can think of it, I can embroider it. Please reach out via the Custom Request form for special requests.
Any type of fabric the machine can handle. It can even do balsa wood (although I am yet to try this). I have specialty hoops to be able to offer inner sleeve embroidery & caps. If you aren't sure if it can be embroidered, just ask!
